Wednesday, April 18 - Hyannis DTC - How the Changing Climate Affects Cape Cod, A Community Forum
A community forum on How the Changing Climate Affects Cape Cod will be held on Wednesday, April 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Barnstable Senior Center, 825 Falmouth Rd., Route 28, Hyannis. Doors open at 6:30.
A distinguished panel of speakers will present current information on climate impacts and answer questions from audience members. Also, representatives from local environmental organizations will offer ideas on how community members can be engaged in important efforts on local climate issues. The panel will be moderated by Britt Beedenbender, Town Councilor, Precinct 4, Barnstable.
Speakers for the event will be Richard Delaney, President and CEO, Center for Coastal Studies, Andrew Gottlieb, Executive Director, Association for the Preservation of Cape Cod, Jo Ann Muramoto, Ph.D, Director of Science Programs, APCC, and Madhavi Venkatesan, Ph.D., Assistant Teaching Professor of Economics, Northeastern University and Executive Director of Sustainable Practices.
The forum is sponsored by the Barnstable Democratic Town Committee, in honor of Earth Day (April 22) and is free and open to the public.
State Representatives Randy Hunt (R-Sandwich), Sarah Peake (D-Provincetown), Will Crocker (R-Barnstable), and Tim Whelan (R-Brewster), and state Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro) announced that they scheduled a series of cord-cutting workshops across Cape Cod. The first session is slated for March 2, at the Sandwich Council on Aging. The Yarmouth South Library will host the second on March 9; the final, at the Harwich Council on Aging, on March 23. All seminars will be free and open to the public.
Attendees can expect to learn more about over-the-air programming, streaming equipment (such as Apple TV and Roku), and streaming services (such as Sling TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and CBS All Access). Consumers will also discover how they can use their internet connection to eliminate their landline telephone service.
